New Features of Hyundai IONIQ 5 EV
1. Vehicle to Load
Hyundai IONIQ 5 comes with vehicle load features which allows the user to use the car as a power station. 250V AC socket is available inside to run any electrical appliance. It can supply power up to 3.3kW which is enough to run a home one a car completely for a day.
AC charging socket is a bidirectional port which can also be used as a vehicle to load purpose. Thus this EV is a mini power plant on the go ready to run your DJ system, TV or any appliances at remote locations.
But it is all up to the user how one will use the feature.
Note that this is not a vehicle to grid socket and so that it can not be used to supply back the power to the grid.
2. Service Vehicle to Vehicle Charging
Thanks to the bidirectional AC socket, which allows vehicle to be used as an emergency power bank to charge other electric vehicles through the AC port. It seems that currently Hyundai is using this feature for service vehicles to provide roadside assistance in battery power emergencies.
3. Virtual Engine Sound System (VESS)
This is the new feature to enable sound in crowded places to warn the pedestrians. Same feature was first seen on the Revolt’s electric two wheelers.
